EMR Manchester improves young people’s employment opportunities

EMR Manchester, based on Oldham Road, continues its support of the Greater Manchester Youth Network.

The Greater Manchester Youth Network, which supports young people throughout the region, offers a range of development programmes and drop-in activities to advise and guide them with the often challenging transition into adulthood. EMR’s donation will enable young people, who are or have been in care, to attend the charity’s employability skills programme.

The 10 week programme offers young people one-to-one support in developing CV’s, researching employment opportunities, writing applications, accessing opportunities for volunteering and work experience. The programme ultimately prepares young people for the world of work.

Christopher Doherty, Operations Manager at EMR Manchester said:

“The COVID pandemic has negatively impacted the employment opportunities of young people all across the country. Our site is in the heart of the Greater Manchester region and we are proud to support young people in our community in accessing opportunities otherwise unavailable to them.

“The skills they will develop and take from the programme will have an irreplaceable impact on their future success. We can’t wait to see what these young people are able to achieve.”

Kate Thomas, Greater Manchester Youth Network describes the difference the donation makes:

“We are so pleased that EMR have chosen to support our employability programme. Young carers are often very isolated and really benefit from these sessions. This donation will help the programme develop and reach more young people.”

The donation was given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative which aims to build bright futures for young people across the UK.
