Local metal recycler, EMR, helps improve youth prospects through partnership with No Limits

EMR Southampton, based on Princes Street, has partnered with charity No Limits to help improve the prospects of young people. 

No Limits is a charity offering free and confidential support for young people across Southampton and Hampshire. Their services cover a wide range of issues including housing and homelessness, debt, employment, relationships, sexual health, mental health and substance misuse.

Through the partnership EMR supports a number of No Limits programmes. In a donation to support young people affected by homelessness, EMR has contributed to an emergency fund which will be used to provide toiletries and personal care items as well as helping young people apply for bank accounts, driving licenses and purchase interview clothing - all to help them into employment. EMR has also sponsored 15 young carers, allowing them to attend the Young Carers Festival, an annual event providing the opportunity to spend time with their peers and to take a break from their caring responsibilities.

No Limits join a number of charities, social enterprises and community groups who are part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative that aims to help young people up and down the country build brighter futures.

“We are so grateful for the support of EMR at this time. The pandemic has had a disproportionate affect on many of those we support and our youth workers have been supporting children and young people facing emotional and mental health difficulties, homelessness, poverty and loneliness.

“One of our young carers who has been able to attend the Children’s Societies annual Young Carers Festival recently returned and said: ‘I had so much fun - and it was good to forget my worries and 'let go' and socialise with people who 'get it'.’ It is with the help of our supporters that we’re able to provide children and young people with the best possible support, helping them to manage their lives, grow in confidence, and build brighter futures, so thank you to EMR for this ongoing partnership.”
