Following previous support given by EMR Rochester, the metal recycler has given a further donation enabling the charity to support more young people. EMR’s donation will be used to allow six young people between the ages of 12 and 15 years to join a four-day sailing residential.

The Young Lives Foundation, a charity which supports young people throughout the South East of England who find themselves in difficult circumstances, believes that every young person should have access to the resources they need to help them thrive. Through advocacy, mentoring and activities such as the sailing residential, the foundation aims to reduce social exclusion in young people.

Christopher Saville, Operations Manager at EMR Rochester, explained why the site decided to offer continued support:

“Having previously supported the Young Lives Foundation mentoring programmes, I have had the pleasure of seeing the amazing impact the foundation has on young people’s lives within our local community.

“Now more than ever, children and young adults find themselves in circumstances that are far beyond their years. By involving them in activities such as the sailing residential, young people are not only able to learn new skills but also have a safe space to talk about anything that may be bothering them. Myself and the team look forward to seeing the positive impact our partnership will continue to have.”

Karen Knight at The Young Lives Foundation shared her thoughts on the continued partnership:

"It has been a pleasure to continue the partnership with EMR Rochester. Previous funding received from them has already supported young people on our mentoring programme and with this further funding, will be giving more young people an incredible opportunity and an experience, which will grow their self confidence and self-esteem.

“This in turn will help them to reach their full potential. It has been a pleasure working with EMR Rochester and I look forward to sharing stories and news following the trip. Thank you once again"

This partnership was created as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined initiative which aims to help young people across the country to build brighter futures.
