EMR helps give young people a safe place to learn and grow with £2,000 contribution to Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone
Global leader in sustainable materials, EMR, is once again supporting Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, continuing a long-standing partnership to improve the lives of young people in the local communities.

EMR, which is proudly headquartered in the North West, has contributed £2,000 in support of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone’s mission to provide young people with “somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to”, 365 days a year.
Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone provides a safe and inspiring environment for children and young adults aged 5 to 19 (and up to 25 through the Youth Hub). It delivers a wide range of activities and programs focused on skills and aspirations, community cohesion, and health and well-being.
The charities teams also offer targeted support, including skills and employment services. Among the charity’s many success stories is boxer Cindy Ngamba – from Cameroon via Bolton – who won the Refugee Team’s first Olympic medal at Paris 2024.
Mel Thomas, Fundraising Coordinator at Blackburn Youth Zone said:
“We are delighted with EMR support to Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, we are powered by local businesses and without them would not be able to support over 5,000 young people across the borough.”
Ben Smithson, Depot Manager at EMR Blackburn added:
“The team at EMR Blackburn are extremely proud to be, once again, supporting Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone and all the great work it does in our community.
“As a family business rooted in the North West, helping young people to fulfil their potential has always been an important element of EMR’s approach to business. By recycling material and focusing on an ambitious 2040 net-zero target, our teams work hard every day to ensure that we’re passing on a better, cleaner planet to the next generation.”
