EMR has funded design & technology equipment to support the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education of 200 young people between 8 and 11 years old. This will provide materials such as cutting mats, safety rulers, saws and sandpaper to help the teaching staff deliver design and technology lessons.

The partnership between EMR Chard and Redstart Primary School was created as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative that helps young people across the country, whom are impacted by circumstances outside of their control, to build brighter futures.

Steven Ellis, Operations Manager at EMR Chard said:

“Over the past 12 months the education of young people across the world has been detrimentally impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I am happy that we can support young people in exploring their STEM education and I am sure that many will go on to be our scientists and engineers of the future. They may even pursue careers in the metal recycling industry!”

Beccy Bendall, Deputy Head Teacher at Redstart Primary School added:

“Thanks to the generous donation from EMR, our teaching and learning will be further enhanced by this equipment. It will see our Design and Technology lessons come to life and enable our children to build on all of the skills they already have developed. Thank you EMR.”
