Edmonton-based metal recycler, EMR, improves employment prospects of young people with donation to local charity

Local metal recycler, EMR Edmonton, has joined forces with Edmonton Community Partnership to support their ‘Skills for Life’ employability programme.

The Edmonton Community Partnership (ECP), which was founded in 2011, is made up of local schools and members of the community who have the shared goal of tackling social deprivation. They aim to achieve this by working with local organisations to offer individuals the tools that they need to thrive.

EMR’s £3,000 donation will allow seven young people to access the charity’s 20 week ‘Skills for Life’ programme. It offers employability skills from work experience to personal development and mentoring. The programme helps young people aged 16 to 24 to gain employment - a prospect which they may have otherwise been unable to achieve.

“We are proud to support the Edmonton Community Partnership. The COVID pandemic has led to many young people losing their jobs. The ‘Skills for Life’ programme offers a vital lifeline to individuals struggling to get back into employment, whilst equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in their adult lives. We look forward to seeing the positive impact our donation will have.”

The donation was given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme which was launched in 2020 to help young people across the UK build bright futures. EMR look to work with charities like the Edmonton Community Partnership to inspire young people and give them the skills and foundations for a sustainable career.
