EMR Salford continues to support local youth charity, Salford Foundation

Salford Foundation receive donation

EMR Salford, based on West Egerton Street, continues to partner with Salford Foundation to support youth empowerment.

Salford Foundation offers resources and opportunities to help individuals reach their full potential. Using their network of businesses, they help young people to raise their aspirations, develop personal skills and access work and learning opportunities.

EMR has donated to help young people in Salford access targeted intervention programmes to help them build the foundations for a brighter future. These mentoring programmes support up to 70 young people each year between the age of 10 and 16 who have been impacted by childhood trauma and negative relationships.

In addition, EMR has also set up a referral scheme through recruitment agency, GAP Personnel. The scheme will provide young people above the age of 18 with access to employment opportunities at EMR’s Salford facility. This will enable young people to gain work experience, which will give them a valuable insight into careers in the metal recycling industry, whilst taking part in paid employment.

Ben Smithson, Operations Manager at EMR Salford said:

“We are proud to be able to continue to partner with Salford Foundation, who work hard to support young people throughout the Greater Manchester region each year.

“The COVID pandemic has left many young people with disrupted education and feeling that employment is an unattainable prospect for them. I hope to see many young people access this specialist support and gain employment as a result of our donation and the referral scheme that we have facilitated.”

Helen Fenton, Corporate Fundraiser at Salford Foundation added:

“We’re very grateful to EMR for their support and are delighted to partner with such a prominent local business. COVID has had an added impact on the lives of young people and particularly employment and training opportunities. Without their donation we would not be able to continue to deliver vital work to support young people across the region.”

Salford Foundation joins a number of other charities across the country, which have partnered with EMR through its Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative which aims to help young people to build brighter futures.
