Young Brent Foundation benefits from donation given by local metal recycler, EMR
The Young Brent Foundation, which supports young people throughout the London Borough of Brent, has benefited from a £1,000 donation from Neasden based metal recycler, EMR.

The charity, which aims to bring together the public, private and voluntary sectors to effect positive change for young people, will use the donation to provide access to its ‘Brent Goes Wild’ project for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic young people, aged between 6 to 14-years-old, at risk of exclusion. Aiming to offer a route into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education, the project covers many aspects of environmental protection such as habitat management, and offers incentives for solving challenges linked to reducing our carbon footprint.
Provided as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, which aims to help young people to build brighter futures, the donation will be used to provide equipment and resources for the Brent Goes Wild activities to allow more people to access the project.
Ben Steptoe, Operations Manager at EMR Neasden said:
“Our site is situated in the heart of the Borough of Brent, so it is important to us to be able to support a charity helping so many young people locally. The Young Brent Foundation plays a vital role in supporting the development of young people throughout Brent who may not otherwise have the opportunity to succeed.
“The ‘Brent Goes Wild’ project not only supports the educational success of young people in the area but teaches valuable lessons about sustainability, an important lesson for our possible future leaders to have and a subject at the heart of EMR.”
Maxine Willetts, Chief Operating Officer at Young Brent foundation described the impact that this donation would have:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with EMR. As we look to the year ahead it is with great excitement, at the brilliance that young people will bring to ideas for sustainability and protection of the environment.”
The Young Brent Foundations ‘Brent Goes Wild’ project started in September 2020 and will run until March 2022.
