Young Gloucestershire receives support from local metal recycler to help improve young peoples’ career prospects

Young Gloucestershire, a charity supporting young people who face difficult challenges in their life, has partnered with local metal recycler, EMR Gloucester, based at The Old Airfield.  

The charity, operating throughout Gloucestershire, supports vulnerable young people experiencing difficulties in their lives. They offer a number of services including support for those suffering with mental illness and programmes to get young people into employment.

The partnership with EMR will allow 20 out-of-work 16 to 25-year-olds to access Young Gloucestershire’s programme for those not in employment, education or training (NEET), covering the cost of travel.

Young Gloucestershire’s NEET programme supports 16 to 25-year-olds by building their confidence and preparing them for the world of work. The programme helps young people build key skills to improve their employability through activities including group team work, supporting local community projects and work placements. They will also have the opportunity to achieve a Level 1 qualification in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills.

Young Gloucestershire’s NEET programme plays a vital role in getting young people, who have often faced a difficult time, into employment or education. EMR’s support has been given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme which was launched in 2020 and aims to help young people build bright futures.

“This support from EMR is fantastic and very timely as the fall-out from COVID-19 has seen a huge rise in youth unemployment across the county. EMR’s donation will mean unemployed young people throughout Gloucestershire can take part in our nationally recognised 12 week programme.”
