EMR supports educational needs of young people with donation to local primary school

Local metal recycler, EMR Sharpness, based on The Dock, has partnered with Sharpness Primary School to support the educational needs of young people throughout the pandemic.

EMR has donated £5,000 to support teaching and learning by e-enabling local children. The funds have been used to buy IT equipment, which will help children to catch up on the lost hours of learning as a consequence of the COVID pandemic.

The donation was given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative that aims to build bright futures for young people across the UK, by providing opportunities to inspire young people and give them the skills and foundations for a sustainable career.

Justin Powell, Operations Manager at EMR Sharpness said:

“The impact of the COVID pandemic has been felt throughout the UK. These resources, along with the support of the dedicated team at Sharpness Primary School, will play a valuable role in helping young people to achieve the best they possibly can.”

Helen Buckingham, Head Teacher at Sharpness Primary school added:

“We are very grateful to EMR for their support, and delighted to be part of their Young Futures Reimagined programme. We are now able to double the amount of devices we currently have in the school.

“The donation will enable us to ensure that all children can assess high quality IT technology which will not only support teaching and learning across the curriculum, but also provide access to exciting enhanced learning opportunities in a wide variety of contexts. We look forward to working with EMR in the future.”
