Seahaven Academy receives donation from metal recycler, EMR

EMR Newhaven, based on North Quay, has partnered with local school, Seahaven Academy, to boost its educational offering to young people.

Charity receives donation from EMR Newhaven

Seahaven Academy, part of the United Learning group of schools, supports the educational needs of young people from across Newhaven and East Sussex. The school prides itself on encouraging young people to be their best and creates a calm, welcoming and supportive environment to enable pupils to thrive. It’s dedicated group of teachers ensure that individuals receive not only the best education, but also the best pastoral care.

EMR Newhaven have donated £3,000 to help the school to enhance its educational offering across key subject areas such as PE, Arts and Literacy. The fund will be used to buy new equipment and reading materials for its 750 students.

Tony Wenham, Operations Manager at EMR Newhaven, commented: “Education is a vital part of every young person’s development and helps to shape their future career paths.

“We are delighted to be able to support and enhance the educational experience for the students at Seahaven Acadamy and look forward to witnessing the bright future that these young people carve out for themselves. I have no doubt that these resources will be put to good use by the students and teaching staff.”

Luke Honeybourne, Assistant Head Teacher at Seahaven Academy, added:

“We are proud to serve the Newhaven community and are delighted to be able to work with EMR to provide more lesson opportunities for our students. Our motto is, ‘The Best in Everyone’ and this donation will allow us to offer opportunities to our students that we wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. We look forward to developing this partnership further for the benefit of our students.”

Seahaven Acadamy is one of a number of schools, charities and community groups to benefit from the support given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative which aims to help young people build bright futures.
